About this website:
I believe a simple life is a full life – but it is not always as easy as it sounds. Learning to live a simple life takes work, it’s learning about yourself both physically and mentally and what you need as an individual to be happy. Learning about yourself is definitely a journey that has to conscientiously be made.
My ‘journey’ started about a year ago with the loss of my mother to lymphoma. Growing up my mom was my best friend and I never thought that I would lose her. At that time of my life, I was overbooked, stressed out to the point it affected my health, and had horrible eating habits. I never took the time to think about what was really important in life and what I, as an individual, wanted to get out of it. After my mom was gone, I realized I had lost one of the most precious things in my life and I was taking other things in my life for granted. I begin seeing a grief counselor (which I promote anyone doing, loss or not, because you learn so much about what has importance in your life and what things you can just leave behind). I also started to read every book I could find on nutrition. From there I began to understand how the body works and what we need to fuel it, something that seems so simple but most of us don’t pay much attention too. The more I learned about how bad nutrition and disease were linked, the more I just wanted to feed my body better. I now have a 70% raw food, 30% no refined sugar, preservatives, or white flour. This diet has worked so well for me and helped me get rid of many health problems. This might not be right for everyone, it is important to begin to understand your needs and find a diet that works with your body.
Personal mental and physical health are key to understanding how to live life to the fullest. Reducing possessions and start finding passion out in the world; traveling, painting, writing, photography, cooking, hiking. There are endless things that can make us appreciate our individual lives and help us live our lives to the fullest potential.
