For the past couple of weeks I have been working for a marketing firm part-time. The firm was next door to my office and they were nice enough to let me come over and learn the ropes. One of the main services they offered their clients logo design. Logos are something that we see and take for granted everyday - they are the icons of our ideas, products, and services. As the public’s first view of our business, they deserve some attention.
After doing some research on logos and design, I found an interesting blog on the worst and best redesigns of well know logos. http://designreviver.com/inspiration/20-great-and-20-not-so-great-logo-redesigns/
I would also have to give the number one spot to Jack in the Box:
Why:
The new logo almost makes me want to eat there. Ok – maybe not quite that good, but it is a huge improvement. The new sleeker and modern fonts along with the box being in perspective makes a huge difference. It seems more tangible and holds your eye longer. I also like how they have removed some of the words to outside of the box. It makes it cleaner and easier to read.
Same concept but huge difference.
I have been working on some logos for my husband’s business, trying to come up with that perfect icon.
For Jamison Studios, which is my business, I did something very simple and hand done. This relates to the stuff that I do, which is all pretty minimalistic and hand done.
Im sure throughout the years I will change mine like good old Jack in the Box, but the main concept will stay the same.
Here are my top five most memorable logos:
These are ones that I can identify without words the easiest. Using an image for a logo can be more iconic than words, I will keep that in mind as I design.
I think that a lot of people from my generation know these symbols very well. It looks like I have my work cut out for me.
